My piece on Jasper Johns: An Allegory of Painting, 1955-1965 at the NGA is in this week's City Paper.
It's my first gallery feature of the new year, and my first opportunity to work with our new arts editor, Mark Athitakis. Both were good firsts.

Good review... I've always wondered if Greenberg's dismissal of Johns was in some way connected to Clement's financial interests in pushing the Color School guys because of book deals with Abrams...
Funny how contemporary art critics rarely "nail" their contemporary key artist who will be remembered generations later...
